Palliative Care Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible individuals who work tirelessly to deliver high-quality palliative care. From doctors and nurses to allied health professionals, administration staff, and the compassionate volunteers who provide support, these are the people making a real difference in the lives of those receiving end-of-life care. Their dedication ensures that patients and their families receive the essential physical, emotional, and spiritual support they need.

Throughout the Barwon South Western region, the community palliative care teams organised a variety of events to honour these remarkable professionals and raise awareness about the importance of palliative supportive care. These events served as a way to bring the community together, share knowledge, and encourage conversations around end-of-life support. From informative talks to social gatherings, each event offered a valuable space for both care providers and the wider public to engage with the important work being done in palliative care.

These initiatives were made possible thanks to the generous support of the Western Victorian Primary Health Network, whose kind donation enabled the organisation and hosting of these events across Geelong, Colac, the Bellarine, and Warrnambool. Their contribution allowed the community to come together and acknowledge the role of palliative care in improving the quality of life for those with life-limiting illnesses.

With continued efforts and support, these events help ensure that the vital work of palliative care teams continues to be recognised and appreciated throughout the region.
