#Showyourheartforpalliativecare
The ‘orange heart’ has been seen and used universally as a symbol for care and friendship. It is seen as being ‘heart-warming and encouraging’ and used as a symbol of ‘always being there for me’ – values that connect with palliative care. It is now the new symbol of the palliative care sector.
According to Palliative Care Australia the orange heart captures and represents the warmth and spirit of the palliative care sector, the connection that health professionals and volunteers share with patients and families and the close bonds that form during each person’s unique palliative care journey.
The Barwon South Western region palliative care consortium invites you to show your appreciation of palliative care providers and the patients and families they care for by creating and sharing your own orange heart display.
During National Palliative Care Week (10–16 May) we invite you to create orange heart displays in hospitals, community spaces and homes as a symbol of care, compassion and appreciation for the people who provide palliative care and the patients and families who they care for. Then share photos of your creations using #Showyourheartforpalliativecare
Orange heart displays can be as simple or as elaborate as individuals desire. So get creative!
Together, let’s show our heart for palliative care.
